Giants:  Barber still happy with decision
The News
Tiki Barber is still planning to retire at the end of the season, and Saturday's Pro Bowl will be the final game he plays. "It's great because this is the ultimate stage you can do it on in this league as a player individually," Barber told NFL.com. "I'm honored to come out here for the third year in a row with my (twin) brother (Ronde), and play my last game as an all-star. It is very special. It's an exciting time and it's a celebration for what my career was and a good jumping off point for the next thing."
Our View
Any Tiki owners that were secretly hoping he'd reconsider must now face the agonizing truth: Barber's days in the NFL are done. Tiki has a lot ahead of him, but we are more concerned with the future of the Giants backfield. Brandon Jacobs is slated as the starter at this time, but the Giants are still going to look for another back to compliment him.

Seahawks:  Strong to return
The News
After seriously considering retirement, fullback Mack Strong says he will return to play for another year with the Seahawks. Strong, preparing in the Pro Bowl this Saturday, told NFL Network that this weekend's game won't be his last. "I wasn't sure that I would be back," Strong said. "In fact, I thought I wouldn't be. But now I will."
Our View
Shaun Alexander owners have to feel good about Strong's decision, because losing him would have hurt the running game significantly. Strong still has some solid ability left, so this decision seems to make sense for everyone.

Steelers:  New quarterback signs
The News
The Steelers have signed quarterback Bryan Randall to a contract, but the terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Randall has spent time with the Falcons and the Buccaneers in the past, but has had no real impact.
Our View
Randall won't be seeing the field unless disaster strikes in a major way, because he's likely the team's third quarterback at best. As a result, he has no fantasy value whatsoever.

49ers:  Gore happy
The News
49ers running back Frank Gore will get a second chance to learn under offensive coordinator Norv Turner in 2007, who was passed over for the Cowboys head coaching job. Gore believes his team is heading in the right direction, and is excited to have Turner back in the fold for another year. "I'm happy, real happy, especially with the young team we have," Gore told the Associated Press. "All that progress we made toward the end of the year, that's just going to continue. We can just keep playing off of it. We can keep growing, working hard in the offseason, and next year is going to be crazy, just crazy."
Our View
The 49ers have dodged a few bullets so far this offseason, and are looking like a trendy sleeper pick for next season. Turner has a history of making offensive stars at the running back position, so like Gore, we are glad he's staying put. In fact, the entire 49ers offense should continue to improve as long as Turner is in charge, so this development helps Alex Smith quite a bit as well.
