O.J. Howard To IR
Early reports on the ankle injury O.J. Howard suffered Sunday afternoon were positive, with the optimistic view being he may be back in a week or two. Unfortunately, said optimism was quickly dashed Tuesday when news broke Howard would be headed to IR, ending his season. It is a tough blow for a player in the midst of a sophomore breakout, and will leave many owners scrambling to replace their tight ends, scouring a thin waiver wire to do so. Howard remains an excellent prospect in dynasty leagues. His redraft value, however, is obviously shot.
Patrick Mahomes exploded Monday night in the highest scoring Monday night football game in history. He threw for 468 yards and 6 touchdowns winning many people their games outright. That is, of course, assuming the other team didn’t have Goff, Kelce, Hill, or many of the other huge fantasy performers from Monday night. Arguably the one of the best games ever. It managed to not just live up to the hype, but exceed it. Watch the replay if you get a chance.
Winston back at the helm of the ship
The musical quarterbacks continue in Tampa. Here’s what we do know whoever has been in at quarterback for the Bucs that person has been a top 10 fantasy quarterback
Mr Sanchez goes to Washington
After losing a Alex Smith to a gruesome leg injury on Sunday they turned to Mark Sanchez. I would say the job is comfortably in the hands of Colts McCoy. Mark has not found any starting success since his Jets days but has played under a few of the Washington coaches in the past.
Who is Gus Edwards?
Gus Edwards appeared out of nowhere this weekend in what should have been a smash start for Alex Collins. The undrafted free agent rookie tallied 17 carries for 115 yards and a score and may have just taken the job from Alex Collins. He’s likely to be a waiver wire darling this week with an incredibly favorable schedule to end the season.
Alex Smith out for season
In a gruesome injury 33 years to the day of Joe Theisman’s leg break, Alex Smith broke his Tibia and fibula and will now be done for the season. The Redskins have lost so many players to injury, it’s hard to imagine they make the playoffs now even with 6 wins already in the books.
Tre’Quan Smith followed up last week’s goose egg with a huge 157 yard, one touchdown game against the Eagles. He had 13 targets and is best suited for flex starts in potentially high scoring games.
Luck has 7th straight 3TD day
Andrew Luck tied Dan Marino with his seventh straight game of 3 or more passing touchdowns. Tom Brady holds the record with 10 and Peyton Manning has the 2nd most with 8.
Winston back in
Jameis Winston replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick… again… and the future of who will be the starter going forward is once again a mystery. This is really a situation to avoid most weeks at this point. The Bucs starter is putting up fantasy points, but you are always playing a scary game of wondering when they will be benched and how many points will they have when it happens.
Jackson expected to start
Lamar Jackson is expected to make his first start today. This may be the changing of the guard as Baltimore may find itself out of the playoff race soon and this is a great matchup for Jackson. Next week is another great matchup vs Oakland.
Tate in line for bigger role
Reports are that Golden Tate is in line for a bigger role this week with another week under his belt. The Eagles need it. They do not look like the same team that won the Super Bowl last year.
Mixon is back
Joe Mixon was missing from yesterday’s practice which concerned many, but he’s back and a full go today. Feel free to get him back in your lineups.
