Collins set to play despite not practicing
Word is Collins was held out of practice today as a precautionary measure and he is set to start against a Browns defense that comes in ranked 24th vs Running Backs, allowing on average 111 rush yards and a rush touchdown per game through four weeks. As long as Collins can keep from fumbling away his job he should be in for a big day.
Several teams interested in Matthews
This has to be true it came from Drew Rosenhaus his agent, what would he have to gain from convincing a team that there’s others interested? Matthews might have something left in the tank but I’m not sure its enough to be a vital part of a winning fantasy lineup. Deeper leagues of course he could be interesting depending on the landing spot.
Freeman to get more work
Broncos coach Vance Joseph has said that Freeman needs to get more opportunities. So apparently Vance Joseph has eyeballs. I was worried when he named Devontae Booker the starter in preseason that his vision was bad or possibly something worse… it now appears Joseph can see what is happening on the field and based on this statement, his decision making might be getting better.
Adams with calf injury
Davante Adams suffered a calf injury on Wednesday and will not practice today. This makes Marquez Valdes-Scantling and maybe even J’Mon Moore more enticing if Adams can not go. Remember that Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison are already ailing with hamstring and concussion injuries, respectively.
Edelman returns tonight
Just a reminder that a few players are returning from suspension this week. Julian Edelman will return to the field tonight against the Colts. He is badly needed and was targeted at least 10 times in nine of his last 10 games. Mark Ingram also returns as well as Robert Turbin… that last one matters to no one.
Gronk to play
Rob Gronkowski is set to play Thursday night. He’s a bit of a risky start, but you have to start him when he plays. He may get up for a matchup with the Colts, but that rivalry seems to have lost it’s luster over the years.
Several players limited
Attention! If you play fantasy football your players are limited !
Davante Adams? Limited.
Yes you down in front, “Lamar Miller” yes he’s limited
in the back red shirt, “Gio Bernard” limited thank you.
You (points in direction), “Corey Davis” unfortunately limited
We have time for one more “Jeff Heuerman” what? Really? You’re starting Jeff Heuerman? Well I’m sorry to inform you but today Jeff was limited.
Listen thank you all for your time and basically all your players are limited yes including Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman and Mohamed Sanu. Julio? Nope not limited he just didn’t practice at all.
Colts limp to the starting gate
The short week Thursday night game claims three prominent offensive players from the Colts. You can now add T.Y. Hilton to the list of players now marked as out for the Colts. Marlon Mack, who has struggled to be on the field all season, will miss Thursday’s game along with Jack Doyle who finds himself missing his third straight game. I’m not sure I’d be looking to start any Colts wide receivers, but I’d fire up early season surprise Eric Ebron and Nyheim Hines in this one.
MVS may draw start
With Randall Cobb pretty doubtful for this weekend with the hamstring injury and Geronimo Allison still in concussion protocol… MVS is looking more and more like he’ll get another start this week. He only had 1 catch for 38 yards on his 3 targets last week, but did play 71% of the team’s offensive snaps.
Freeman to return
Devonta Freeman is expected to return this week and would immediately push Ito Smith back to the bench and Tevin Coleman back to flex status in decent matchups. He gets a great matchup against a Steelers defense allowing the most receptions (10.5/game) and 2nd most receiving yards (77.5/game) to running backs on their way to allowing the 7th most fantasy points to the position.
Fournette out Week 5
Leonard Fournette reaggravated his hamstring last week and will miss week 5 and potentiall many more weeks. The Jaguars don’t seem to need him and may be eyeing the playoffs wanting him at full health. TJ Yeldon and Corey Grant should be owned everywhere with a matchup against a Chiefs team allowing 7.8 receptions and 96 yards per game through the air to running backs on top of the 105 rushing yards per game and 6 total touchdowns they have given up.
Jaguars Workout Orleans Darkwa
Free agent Running Back Orleans Darkwa showed off his skills for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, per Tyler Devitte of 1010XL. Darkwa was last seen doing an admirable job contributing for a backwards 2017 Giants offense. However, the term JAG was created to describe players like him. The move speaks more to concerns over Leonard Fournette’s health. If Jacksonville is looking to add a back, it likely means the number four overall pick in the 2017 Draft is scheduled for an extended absence.
