Stew Beard continues his dominance
Ryan Fitzpatrick (lovingly nicknamed Stew Beard) threw for another 400+ yards and 4 touchdowns sending the Bucs to 2-0. No one is laughing anymore at the thought of him remaining the Buc starter when Winston is off suspension.
Mahomes playing unreal
Patrick Mahomes threw for 6 touchdowns today in a win over the Steelers and appears to be this year’s Deshaun Watson. Mahomes now has 10 touchdowns in the first 2 games of the season (a new NFL record).
Ito Smith Expected To Assume Backup Duties
With Devonta Freeman sidelined, Ito Smith is expected to move into a larger role as Tevin Coleman’s backup. A Draft Twitter darling, Smith was a surprise Combine snub after an uber-productive career at Southern Miss. Most encouragingly, Smith posted 140 receptions over four seasons, indicating he could carve out a niche role even with Coleman dominating snaps. Smith makes for an intriguing speculative add in deep PPR leagues. At the very least, we get to see him audition for the backup role he is expected to take on in 2019 after Tevin Coleman’s free agency departure.
Devonta Freeman To Miss At Least Two Weeks
The knee injury which knocked Devonta Freeman out of the season’s opening game against the Eagles is poised to keep him out at least two weeks, per Adam Schefter. This is the second straight season Freeman has dealt with knee issues. Labeled a knee contusion, the big concern is this is something which lingers throughout the year. In his absence, Tevin Coleman becomes a borderline RB1 in all formats and is a must-start for as long as Freeman is unable to go.
Josh Gordon Out Week 2, to be released
UPDATE: Josh Gordon will be released Tuesday. Assuming it is not potential suspension related, he should be a target of many teams. Also, does this open the door for Dez to come to Cleveland???
ORIGINAL POST: Josh Gordon has been ruled out for Week 2. I am not sure if this qualifies as a Downgraded status, since Gordon was not listed on the Browns final injury report. Apparently Saturday’s walkthrough was fairly taxing. Gordon was a risky proposition given he was slated to see a lot of Marshon Lattimore, but this is still a blow to fantasy lineups regardless. Jarvis Landry’s already heavy target share figures to stay fully intact and this is a small ray of hope for David Njoku as well.
Aaron Rodgers Status Still In Doubt
At this juncture, I am expecting Rodgers to ride in on a clydesdale seconds before kickoff while the Lambeau faithful chant hymns re-purposed for their savior under center. Despite being listed as Questionable, it would be shocking if Rodgers sat in a pivotal divisional matchup. Normally an elite quarterback on the weekly slate, Rodgers’ upside is potentially capped in a tough matchup but he remains in a locked-in starter in year-long leagues.
Mixon may miss time
Sounds like Joe Mixon might miss a little time with his knee injury. This is not confirmed yet, but my man Heath Cummings had a great tweet for those looking forward. Just a heads up! (EDIT: Looks like he will miss 2 weeks)
Giovani Bernard has had 20 touches 8 times in his career. He’s scored double digit non-PPR Fantasy points every time. He’s not just an add, he’s must-start until Mixon returns.

John Brown has been a darling of the fantasy community for years with only flash performances. Last night may have just been one of them. However, garnering 10 targets leads to optimism in an offense with a lot of targets available. His 4 grabs for 91 yards and a touchdown sure made fantasy owners happy. Expect more games like this down the road from Smoky Brown.
Green has himself a night
AJ Green had himself a night last night scoring three times in the first half. He always seems underappreciated for how good he is. What’s being slightly missed is that Andy Dalton and the Bengals might just be on their way to a good season. Dalton may end up being a very good QB option all year. Lots of jokes have been made about Green’s touchdown ability vs Julio Jones’ because they came out together (Green had 3 in under an hour, Julio had 3 last year). Don’t sleep on Bengals this year.
Benjamin misses second day with foot injury
What does this mean for your fantasy team? Absolutely nothing. But for you Mike Williams owners it frees up some more targets.
